Our aim here is to develop, appraise and articulate the theory of values we are exploring in a way that will influence both environmental thinking and conservation practice in important ways. The people who have taken an interest in these ideas, and who have signed on to help here, are making an important start toward this goal. But we could use help, especially in two areas:
- Moving the conversation along. This is a cross-disciplinary project that not only draws on a broad range of academic disciplines but also connects them with restoration and other forms of land management. Those who have joined this conversation already represent a fairly wide range of relevant disciplines. But we could use help in several areas, notably psychology and anthropology, intellectual and cultural history and environmental art.
- Expanding the conversation to a broad audience, ultimately including the environmental community and the general public. For this we will be looking for help from people with skills in reporting, writing, editing, promotion and outreach.
We could also use help getting the ideas out there, not only to others in relevant academic disciplines, but also to key people in environmental agencies and in government, the media and general public.
